Duties and Responsibilities
Members are elected from each of the five supervisory districts. The Board of Supervisors has the tasks of guiding and establishing policies for the complex multi-million dollar enterprise of county government. Members of the board of supervisors make decisions that directly impact economic development, public health and welfare and county roads.
The Office of the Board of Supervisors schedules the times of the meetings of the Board.

Board of Supervisors Meetings
The Office of the Chancery Clerk schedules the meetings of the Board, as well as preparing the proposed agendas, containing all documents and exhibits for each meeting and the official agendas. They are responsible for handling correspondence for the Board members, as well as public inquiries for County information.
Board Meetings
Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. Note that when a county-recognized holiday falls on a 1st or 3rd Monday, the meeting is held the following day. Meetings are held on the 3rd floor of the new courthouse at 9:00 a.m.
To be placed on the agenda, call the Chancery Clerk (601-636-4415). You do not have to be on the agenda to speak. You may not be heard until all other agenda items have been covered but you may address the board without prior notification.
To Appear Before the Board
If you wish to appear before the Board of Supervisors to discuss an important matter, please notify the Chancery Clerk not later than 12:00 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to a scheduled meeting. If you come to a meeting and are not on the agenda, it is possible to still address the board, but you will have to wait until all other agenda items have been addressed.
Any backup information, and/or exhibits pertaining to the matter you wish to discuss must be delivered to the Board Office by the same deadline.
Official Agendas
The “official agenda” is a brief listing of matters discussed and acted upon by the Board of Supervisors at each meeting. This is compiled by the Chancery Clerk and is used as a research tool in order to locate specific Board actions.
